Cookie policy
Effective May 5, 2026. The exact set of cookies and storage items Category Is Travel sets, why each one exists, and how to clear them.
1. The short version
We use a single first-party cookie plus two browser localStorage keys. None of them carry a third-party advertising tracker, and none leave your device unless you explicitly send them (e.g. through the contact form).
2. The exact list
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
cit_consent_v1 | localStorage | Remembers that you saw the cookie strip so we do not show it again. | Until cleared |
cit_last_route | localStorage | Pre-fills the From and To fields on the search panel with your last route. | Until cleared |
__cf_bm | First-party cookie (Cloudflare) | Anti-bot challenge token. Set by our CDN to differentiate humans from bots. | 30 minutes |
3. Cookies we do not set
- No Google Analytics, no GA4, no Tag Manager.
- No Facebook, Meta, TikTok, or X advertising pixels.
- No remarketing or retargeting cookies.
- No session-replay or heatmap tools.
4. Outbound partner clicks
When you click View deal the click leaves our site and lands on Kayak (or a different partner). Their cookie practices are governed by their own policies. The partner sets a referral cookie so they can credit Category Is Travel for the visit; that cookie is set on the partner’s domain, not ours.
5. How to clear what we store
- Chrome / Edge: Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → All sites → categoryistravel.com → Clear data.
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Manage Data → categoryistravel.com → Remove.
- Safari: Safari → Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data → categoryistravel.com → Remove.
- Mobile Safari (iOS): Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → categoryistravel.com → Remove.
Clearing data resets the search panel to its defaults; nothing else changes.
6. Updates
If we ever add a new cookie or storage item we will list it here and reset the cookie consent strip so you see the change before continuing.
